“A troubled police detective demoted to 911 operator duty scrambles to save a distressed caller during a harrowing day of revelations — and reckonings.” Sounds intense! I saw The Guilty trailer today and I’m really looking forward to seeing it! It was adapted from a Danish movie with the same name released back in 2018. I haven’t seen the 2018 film, but the trailer for that one looked great as well. The Guilty will be in theaters this month and with my kid back in school, I can’t freaking wait to enjoy a grown-up movie in theaters again!
Here’s the synopsis:
The Guilty takes place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch call center. Call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) tries to save a caller in grave danger—but he soon discovers that nothing is as it seems, and facing the truth is the only way out.

We, of course, don’t know yet what Detective Bayler did to get demoted to a 911 operator, but that is not a job I would ever want. It seems like the job deals with either annoying callers or heart breaking calls. It takes a special person to help those in need and my heart sure as hell couldn’t take it. I could deal with annoying. I’ve done retail and there are some awful shoppers out there. It was sometimes fun dealing with a Karen, especially when they couldn’t get their way. Service with a smile, a big ass fake one.
The Guilty stars one of Hollywood’s witches, Jake Gyllenhaal. I say witch cuz that man ages like a snail’s crawl! Am I jealous? Maybe a little. This talented actor is known for his roles in Donnie Darko, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Nightcrawler. Gyllenhaal starred in Prisoners with Paul Dano, where he also played a detective. He and Dano will be sharing the screen again in The Guilty. Since, I haven’t seen the 2018 The Guilty, I’ll avoid it for now. I don’t know how much they will take from the original screenplay and I don’t want to spoil anything for myself.
