The Mandalorian: Disney+ To Release Eight-Episode Docuseries On Making Of The Star Wars Series

Have you already churned your way through Season 1 of The Mandalorian on Disney+? Do you have a shirt that reads “Baby Yoda is my Homeboy” on it? Have you counted the number of shots the titular Mandalorian himself has fired from his blasters? If this is you, get help. Also, if this is you, you may have found yourself bored by the severe lack of The Mandalorian outside of that first season on Disney+.

Luckily, Disney has noticed this void and has actively worked to fill it. We already know that a new season of the bounty hunter-laden series is on the way, but they’re hoping to keep the series in the public eye even before that. Even better, it looks like they’ll be taking advantage of Star Wars Day to launch the new show. The new eight-episode documentary is called Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian.

Each episode will dive into a different facet of the Star Wars show’s production.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1,” said creator Jon Favreau in a statement. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”

Here is some of what you can expect from the series:

“Topics this season include the filmmaking process, the legacy of George Lucas’ Star Wars, how the cast brought the characters to life, the series’ groundbreaking technology, the artistry behind the show’s practical models, effects, and creatures, plus the creative influences, the iconic score, and connections to Star Wars characters and props from across the galaxy. “

All pomp and circumstance aside from Disney’s self-aggrandizing copy, this is actually very exciting. As we’ve reported in the past, there has been an exciting advancement in technology with this series. No longer are they utilizing green screen, but instead real-time projection screens that put actors IN THE SCENES in the moment.

We’ve seen glimpses of it in the past and the fact we’ll get to see even more of it in this documentary is great. I imagine it’ll be immensely satisfying for tech whores.
