Doctor Strange 2 – Scott Derrickson Confirms His Support For Sam Raimi Coming Aboard As Director

Why Sam Raimi Returned To Marvel For Multiverse Of Madness

A quick reminder. A Doctor Strange sequel titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be coming our way sometime in the future. That title somehow frightens me in the most wondrous and delightful way. I was in on this film simply from the title alone.

Then Marvel had to go and show off by bringing in a living legend within the word of comic book directors, Sam Raimi. He will be the man behind both the camera and the madness as it were and this seems like it could end up being a dream pairing for many nerds around the world. Raimi, as I assume most of you reading this are well aware of, directed the original Spider-man trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire as the wise-cracking web-slinger.

When the news that Raimi was aboard the project first broke, Scott Derrickson, who directed the first Doctor Strange film expressed his support for Raimi on Twitter. However, even the show of support it was felt by some that Derrickson may have been a bit bitter. Well, that case is closed now as Derrickson reaffirmed his backing of Raimi in another tweet you can see down below.

And Bob’s your uncle. No hard feelings whatsoever, and there never were any to begin with.

Derrickson did what I thought was a fantastic job with the first Doctor Strange film, but I am excited to see where Raimi lets Multiverse of Madness take him. I always loved his direction. Even if I disliked some aspects of his Spider-Man trilogy (I’m looking at you lounge singer Peter Parker). This is one of the most promising director and superhero pairings since The Dark Knight trilogy.
