God of High School Episodes 6 and 7 Review

The God of High School Episode 6 and 7 review.

Episodes 6 and 7 of The God of High School moved the plot along and demonstrated how crazy this series can get. The opening of episode 6 introduced Nox one of the main antagonist groups in the series. Fighting against Jin’s grandfather illustrated just how powerful a threat they are moving forward. Nox ties into the introduction of divine powers that have been teased in previous episodes. Not to be outclassed The 6 were assembled by the commissioner of the God of High School Tournament. The powerful skills started to get introduced in episode 7 by the national competitors of the tournament. Combatants giving the main characters a run for their money will make it interesting to see just how powerful the battles get moving forward.

The fighting animation was on par for the previous episodes. However, the addition of more powers made the viewing experience much better. The national tournament started off strong with the powers shown by the competitors in Episode 7. As the webtoon is absolutely crazy in terms of power levels and divine powers the audience should be excited to see what comes next

The pacing of this series seems to settle down after a rough start to the series. All of the pieces are set for the first season and the final few episodes will likely end with a pretty sizeable cliffhanger regarding Jin.

Episode 6 Roundtable Discussion

Brendan: I think we started to uncover what this series is about in this episode. Until this point, The God of High School felt a bit generic and fell in line with other Shonen series. Now the audience is starting to understand just how crazy this series can actually get.

Steve: I agree, I definitely feel like I have a grasp of all the parties in play here with the Nox given some explanation. I thought these guys were a part of the administrators initially. Also, it is nice to have Mira and Daewi a part of the tournament again. Do you feel the explanation to bring them back was good enough? As Mujin put it, there are more “tiger cubs” than he initially thought.

Brendan: Later in the series we will see the full potential of Daewi and Mira. With that in mind having them continue their time spent in the tournament is crucial for their development. We should get glimpses of this potential in the national round of the God of High School round.

Steve: That sounds good, I’m definitely enjoying their development throughout the series. Speaking of which, we are getting a better glimpse at who Mori Jin is with the glimpse we got of what is going on with his grandfather. I thought maybe he had died or gone off somewhere far away but he looks to be tangled up with one of these groups. Do you think this will come into play soon or is this setting up something bigger?

Brendan: It looks like Jin’s grandfather will play a more active role than I originally anticipated. However, this looks like it is setting up the reveal of Jin’s true identity at the end of the tournament.

Steve: Ohh I gotcha, something related to that prophecy we get a slight hint at? I can see the administrators eventually using this knowledge or even his grandfather against Mori to keep him going in the tournament. We also met all of the Six I’m this episode. Are there any fights among those members that you look forward to seeing the most between our main characters and them?

Brendan: The six play a large role in the webtoon so I can see them being used with similar significance in the anime. However, with the pacing and changes in the anime, I’m not sure how much we will actually see. They might be better saved for season 2 acting as something to look forward to. However, their power is legit and poses a major significance in the story.

Steve: That’s awesome, I liked their character card intros in this episode. Definitely a cool way to introduce many characters at once. Also, I’m curious to see why the ring announcer was taken out by the Nox. Maybe a message to the administrators that they are coming for them in this tournament? They seem more ruthless than the administrators but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Anything else jump out at you in this episode?

Brendan: Overall a solid episode that picks up the slack for more generic episodes previously in the season. The introduction of core elements of the series actually has me excited for the series next week. Though it was just in passing mentioning the purpose of the fruit Jin ate cleared up confusion about a drastically changed scene in the manga.

Steve: Yes, I was glad to see a solid episode that didn’t rely on the fights or a major conflict per se. And oh that’s right, you mentioned before that the fruit came in a bit later in the comic. That’s good they addressed this and even though I don’t know the significance, I know that it builds Mori up to be a serious threat to the villains.
