How Ewan McGregor will prep for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? Read on!
Hello there.
The famous greeting from Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi It’s not often a beloved movie character is portrayed by two different actors, at two different times in the character’s life. Even rarer is for both actors to play the part so brilliantly (nothing comes to mind while writing this except for Marlon Brando/Robert DeNiro as Vito Corleone, I’m sure you folks will name some in the comments).
Sir Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy is one of cinema’s iconic characters. Which makes the fact that some fans prefer Ewan McGregor’s version of the character all the more interesting. I love both actors and think they both play him masterfully in their own way.
You may have heard that McGregor is reprising the role in an upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series that will air on Disney+. As he did 20 years ago while filming the Star Wars prequels, McGregor plans to go back and do a bit of studying. The course is Guinness 101. Personally, it’s a little from Column A and a little from Column E. The video below is a fantastic representation of what that might look like. However, if I had to make a call, I would have to give the edge to McGregor. Simply because he embraces being Obi-Wan Kenobi. And is far more enthusiastic about playing the character, Guinness, not so much. Though it’s not fair to judge Guinness too harshly as the franchise was in a much different place for the actor.
